Pressure Switch and its working mechanism
As the name indicates, a pressure switch is a switch that operates using pressure. It is a device that turns an electrical circuit connected to it ON or OFF when a preset pressure is reached on its input. The witch may be designed to make contact either on pressure rise or pressure fall. In the case of a light switch, when they are switched on, the switch makes close contact with the circuit and the light turns on. When they are switched off, the circuit is broken, and the power turns off, but in the case of a pressure switch, instead of being manually switched, the switch is closed or opened when the input pressure reaches above or below a preset value. This pressure is called the set-point of the pressure switch.
Components of a pressure switch
The output of the pressure switch is digital and the output is bound to have only two states: on and off. A pressure switch consists of a transducer, which is responsible for measuring the pressure, and an electrical switch. The transducer part that comes in contact with the process pressure, some pressure switches have the switch terminals open when no pressure is connected, which is called a normally open switch. When enough pressure is applied on to the switch it closes up. On the other hand, switches have the switch terminals closed when no pressure is connected, which is called a normally closed switch, and when enough pressure is applied, the switch opens up.
Applications of Pressure Switches
There are several common applications of pressure switches; the simplest use is to activate a light or sound alarm when a certain level of pressure threshold is reached. The switch has a lower and upper trigger threshold. Kevitits is a Pressure Switch Supplier in UK that can provide you with durable and long-lasting pressure switches. Our pressure switches are applicable to switch the pump on or off when the liquid level reaches the lower or upper limit.
Types of Pressures Switches we Supply
There are two main types of pressure switches our Pressure Switches Suppliers in UK can supply you with- Electronic and Mechanical Switches.
Mechanical Pressure Switches
In a mechanical pressure switch, a diaphragm closes and opens the circuit when the medium pressure rises or drops to a certain set value.
Electronic Pressure Switches
Electronic pressure switches are based on a pressure sensor element, which ensures precise switching thresholds and virtually wear-free solid-state relays to switch the loads.
