Different Type of Flow Meters Used in Piping

• Positive Displacement Flow Meters: These meters measure the flow by capturing a fixed volume of fluid and counting the number of times this volume is filled. They are highly accurate and ideal for low-flow applications.

Once the pressure differential is established, the fluid moves through a pressure recovery exit system, which can reclaim as much as 80% of the differential pressure created at the throat. It causes slight changes in the tube’s motion which sensors can detect the fluid’s move through the tube and is forced to take the vertical movement. These changes are used to determine the mass flow rate of the fluid. The key components include the oscillating tube, where the fluid flows with sensors and transmitter that monitor the vibration changes and convert them into flow rate measurements.
